Calgary yoga studios participate in amazing promotion
With hundreds of yoga studios offering a dozen styles of yoga taught by thousands of teachers, choosing the right class can be downright confusing, not to mention expensive. Passport to Prana will give Calgarians (from beginners to seasoned yogis) the freedom to try the city’s best yoga studios by eliminating the cost barrier that comes with yoga in a big city, beginning Saturday, May 1.
Twelve local yoga studios are already participating in this one-of-a-kind program and more are expected to join. For only $20, the card entitles its holder to one regularly scheduled yoga class at each of the participating studios resulting in a value of hundreds of dollars. The average yoga class in Calgary is $17, making this a great investment in your health and wallet. Every style of yoga is represented.
“Passport to Prana is a co-operative yoga marketing concept that brings the yoga studio community together to offer maximum choice and flexibility to local yogis,” said founder YuMee Chung. “It flows from the belief that businesses can be a force for healthy and positive change in their communities.”
An online yoga portal is also part of the program. Anyone who purchases a Passport to Prana will receive an electronic card that will be swiped by the yoga studio just before class. The yogi can log onto their Passport to Prana profile at http://www.passporttoprana.com to track everything from class attendance to passport information in real time. Studio listings, maps, contact information and up-to-date class schedules are also available, making it a must-stop spot for any yoga lover in the city.
The Calgary card is valid from May 1, 2010 until February 28, 2011, and can be purchased online or from any of the participating studios. For a list of studios in Calgary, please visit the website.
Other exciting news includes the continued expansion of the popular Passport to Prana across the country, as the card will soon be available in Edmonton. Yogis in Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, Vancouver and Victoria are already taking advantage of the program.
About Passport to Prana:
Passport to Prana was conceived in 2005 by YuMee Chung, a former securities lawyer who left the world of corporate law to become a yoga teacher and eventually opened one of Toronto’s leading yoga studios, Jivamukti Yoga. The style of yoga comes from a New York City studio by the same name, where you can lay your mat next to Russell Simmons, Sting and Uma Thurman. Chung teaches international classes and workshops and is in high demand as an instructor. She has taught CEOs, Hollywood directors and high-profile celebrities including Val Kilmer and Diane Lane, and offers yoga instruction on her personal website http://www.padmani.com. She runs Passport to Prana with business partners Raj Gandhi, Prajna Harsora, Scott Peterson and Jim Benedek.
