Kick-off of Legacy Concert Series, in conjunction with 2010 Edmonton Pride Festival

HIV Edmonton is proud to announce that Canadian singer-songwriter Jeffery Straker will kick off the Legacy Concert Series on June 11, 2010, held in conjunction with the 2010 Edmonton Pride Festival.  Straker will perform at the Kasbar Lounge at 8:30 pm.  
Tickets to this fundraiser for HIV Edmonton are $20 and are now available online in HIV Edmonton’s Red Ribbon Shoppe (https://www.hivedmonton.com/shop.html).

The Legacy Concert Series is one of seven components of HIV Edmonton’s Legacy Project,   a 15-month campaign commemorating 25 years of providing support, education and advocacy for those infected with, affected by, or at risk of HIV.  HIV Edmonton began in 1984 as the AIDS Network of Edmonton and was incorporated on February 12, 1986.  In July, 1999 the society changed its name to the HIV Network of Edmonton Society or HIV Edmonton, as it is more commonly known.

HIV Edmonton is pleased to present singer-songwriter-pianist Jeffery Straker on Friday, June 11, as the kick off to the Legacy Concert Series and the beginning of the 2010 Edmonton Pride Festival.

Jeffery Straker, in addition to being a brilliant musician, is a generous and charitable artist and is coming to Edmonton specifically to headline this fundraiser for HIV Edmonton.

Straker’s 2010 album “Step Right Up” is a collection of tunes which paint vivid aural images with lyrical artistry and Jeffery’s gloriously energetic prowess on the piano – and a sharp sense of humour. The songs tell absorbing life stories about characters that run the gamut from tragic to comic.

Straker’s music has already gained international recognition, including recent nods for his songwriting as a national finalist in the Canadian Radiostar Songwriting Competition and as a top 20 finalist in the global 2009 Unisong Competition.
