First in the Distinguished Speaker Series will speak on April 26, 2010
Edmonton – HIV Edmonton is proud to announce Dr. Elizabeth Pisani, epidemiologist and author of The Wisdom of Whores, as the first speaker in the Distinguished Speakers Series. Dr. Pisani's speaking event is sponsored by Abbott Virology. A component of the Legacy Project, the Distinguished Speaker Series will be comprised of five (5) speakers, all leaders, historians and innovators in the global fight against HIV/AIDS.

Dr. Pisani will speak in the Banquet Room at the Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium on Monday, April 26, 2010 at 7 pm. Admission is free, with a suggested donation of $10. Refreshments will be provided by HIV Edmonton at a post-event reception.

CBC Edmonton is pleased to partner with HIV Edmonton to sponsor the Distinguished Speaker Series.

Dr. Pisani will speak on Public Health Prostitution: The Mismatch Between Evidence and Policy in HIV. Her talk will outline the history of the HIV epidemic and will discuss how the response to this epidemic appears to be driven by ideology, political correctness and money rather than by scientific evidence.
