Calgary lovers of ballet and the music of Sir Elton John and Bernie Taupin around the world have spoken. Alberta Ballet is excited to announce that another performance of Love Lies Bleeding has been added in Calgary.
Due to strong demand, two shows were previously added in February to the Calgary run. Now, with the high-demand, tickets to a third additional performance will go on sale at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 20. This additional performance is scheduled for Sunday, May 9 at 7:30 p.m. Good seating is still available for the Calgary matinees and Edmonton performances.
This major world premiere unites a powerful creative team of five designers with Alberta Ballet’s internationally acclaimed Artistic Director/Choreographer Jean Grand-Maître in what is sure to be the ballet event of the season in Canada. Alberta Ballet’s internationally acclaimed roster of dancers will soar and give athletic life to fourteen of the 20th century’s most memorable songs. This contemporary semi-abstract ballet will take the audience through a series of theatrically dynamic and provocative tableaux into the wild and powerful world of pop music super stardom.
Love Lies Bleeding, inspired by and featuring the music of Sir Elton John and Bernie Taupin, premieres in Calgary May 6-9, 2010 and Edmonton May 11-12, 2010. All performances take place at the Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium in Edmonton and the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium in Calgary.
