We are excited to announce the launch of Queers and Beers YYC after recognizing a lack of diversity at local LGBTQ events – especially when it comes to gender. We wanted to start a conversation within our community while having fun and networking. The official launch date for Beers and Queers is Wednesday March 22, 2017 at Still Fine Spirits & Edibles.
Who: Bj Racette, Corbin Jensen and Alison Lang – co-founders of Queers and Beers YYC
What: A networking event full of queers – and their allies – beers and fun! Queers & Beers is being held in Toronto, Vancouver and Edmonton and now Calgary for the after work crowds.
Why: We operate under 3G's for social good.
Good people - We want to bring our whole community together to form long-lasting partnerships with organizations that share our values and elevate LGBTQ life in Calgary.
Good vibes - Inclusive by design, we aim to create a safer space for the LGBTQ community with open atmosphere - this includes spaces are wheelchair accessible, and bringing our own trans* friendly washroom signage.
Good cause - Our events benefit our charitable partner, the Calgary Chinook Lesbian and Gay Fund. We chose to work with the Chinook Fund because of its sound management of donor dollars (100 per cent goes to charities) and more equitable distribution between Elders, Youth, Trans, Lesbians, and Gays.
Where: The Still – 270 14 Ave. S.E, Calgary, Alberta
When: Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Several local MLA’s have expressed interest in attending this inaugural event and we invite you to come, too! Come join us for after work beers, conversation and community. The Event is by donation with drink specials.
