Last November, HIV Edmonton held an event titled "Around Michael's Kitchen Table" at the Fairmont MacDonald Hotel. This invitation-only event served not only as a celebration of Michael Phair and his amazing contributions to HIV/AIDS work in Edmonton, but also as a kick-off to the Legacy Project.
After a 15-month campaign, the Legacy Project will wrap up February 20, 2011 with The Legacy Gala at the Fairmont Hotel MacDonald. HIV Edmonton has not held a gala event since The Black & White Affair was retired in 2003 and we are thrilled to be hosting such a party this year.
This 25th anniversary celebration year has been quite successful in raising awareness, garnering support from the media and community-at-large, and re-engaging our champions from the past. Events such as Dr. Elizabeth Pisani’s talk in the Distinguished Speaker Series or the recent launch of our coffee table book Around the Kitchen Table: 25 Years of AIDS in Edmonton are just two of the many highlights of the year, telling our history to a new audience.
We do hope you’ll join us at The Legacy Gala as we celebrate a successful 25th anniversary campaign, as well as the founders that made HIV Edmonton the agency it is today. This fundraiser supports the invaluable programs and services provided by HIV Edmonton.
