Simon-Marc de Freitas to perform Fundraiser
Edmonton – HIV Edmonton is proud to announce that pianist Simon-Marc de Freitas will perform "World AIDS Day: A Benefit Concert" to wrap up the Legacy Concert Series on December 1, 2010. De Freitas will perform at 7:30 pm in Muttart Hall (Alberta College Campus, Grant MacEwan University, 10050 MacDonald Drive).
Simon-Marc de Freitas (piano) will be joined by Josephine van Lier (cello), Jennifer Bustin (violin) and Laura McAlpine (mezzo-soprano) for a program that will include two piano trios by Ástor Piazzolla, Sonata in A Major for Piano and Cello by César Franck, various song selections and piano/violin duo. All proceeds from "World AIDS Day: A Benefit Concert" will go to support HIV Edmonton’s programs and services.
The evening will also serve as a book launch for Around Michael’s Table: 25 Years of AIDS in Edmonton.

The Legacy Concert Series is one of seven components of HIV Edmonton’s Legacy Project, a 15-month campaign commemorating 25 years of providing support, education and advocacy for those infected with, affected by, or at risk of HIV. HIV Edmonton began in 1984 as the AIDS Network of Edmonton and was incorporated on February 12, 1986. In July, 1999 the society changed its name to the HIV Network of Edmonton Society or HIV Edmonton, as it is more commonly known.
