TD Bank, America's Most Convenient Bank, today received a perfect score of 100 on the Human Rights Campaign’s (HRC) annual Corporate Equality Index (CEI), naming the bank one of the Best Places to Work. The 2010 edition of the Corporate Equality Index, which rates 590 businesses on a scale from 0 to 100 percent, reports 305 businesses achieved top ratings. Of the 268 Fortune 500 companies rated in the 2010 CEI survey, 123 received perfect scores. This is the first time TD Bank participated in the survey. To view the report, visit www.HRC.org/CEI.

"We are proud to have been named among America’s ‘Best Places to Work’ for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) Employees,” said Carol Mitchell, Executive Vice President, TD Bank, and Leader - Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Allies (LGBTA) Diversity Subcommittee. “At TD Bank, we strongly believe in reflecting and supporting the diverse communities in which we work and live. We strive to provide an inclusive workplace where our Employees are supported in all their diversity, are treated fairly and have the opportunity to live up to their full potential."

The CEI considers factors such as support of the LGBT community, same-sex partner benefits and guidelines, diversity training, resource group for LGBT Employees, and policies that prohibit discrimination based on gender identity or expression. TD Bank highlights include:

  • HR policies that are inclusive of LGBT employees and their domestic partners and children
  • Sponsorship and participation in LGBT initiatives, such as the Gay Pride Parade in Boston and Philadelphia Zoo’s Gay Community Day
  • Establishment of a network of LGBT employees and their allies to create a connected community within the Bank, share information and draw on volunteers

"The Corporate Equality Index 2010 shows that, even in the most challenging economy, leading employers are forging ahead of federal and state law to recruit and retain a diverse workforce — regardless of employees’ sexual orientation and gender identity or expression,” said Human Rights Campaign Foundation President Joe Solmonese. “TD Bank, and all employers actively working to improve their rating, set an example for all U.S. employers."(GC)
