The first step to protecting your existing domain name so that you can register it on the new .GAY domain

QUICK. EASY. FREE.

In an effort to ensure that organizations and businesses in the LGBTQIA+ community are not subject to a "Wild West" exploitation when .GAY becomes a reality, dotgay LLC has included a key registration period that offers protections for those who have built name equity in existing domains on TLDs like .COM and .ORG. This registration period is called "Sunshine" and is unique to dotgay LLC’s community-based proposal for .GAY.

To begin accepting submissions for the Sunshine Period, dotgay LLC has launched the new Expression of Interest (EOI) website. The EOI serves as a preliminary step in introducing a registration process that not only ensures full disclosure and transparency, but also protects businesses and organizations in our community. The EOI is available online at http://dotgay.us2.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=071954fa864fc653c17e013e8&id=d0cb7dfd63&e=fa7b148e02 and is now open and ready for use by the community. Participation is free, takes only minutes, and is offered with no future commitment.

For example, if a company is using BUSINESSNAME.COM as their web address, the Sunshine Period provides an opportunity for that company to position themselves for registering BUSINESSNAME.GAY. No actual registration will occur during EOI submissions since the .GAY domain does not yet exist, however interested parties will be put in queue to participate in the Sunshine Period when the time comes. Eligibility into Sunshine requires an exact name match and must have been registered on another TLD (i.e., .COM, .ORG) prior to May 1, 2012.*

dotgay LLC encourages all LGBTQIA+ organizations, business owners, media outlets, or any community member with a web address to participate in the EOI — a first step to building a fair and orderly process for registering and distributing .GAY domain names.
