Scarboro United Church
134 Scarboro Avenue SW, Calgary
With guest folk/country band The Backyard Betties the final concert of our 2012-2013 season showcases Canadian folk music. Ranging from the traditional to the modern, come to hear 4-part arrangements of "After the Gold Rush", "I Am a Man of Constant Sorrow", "Big Yellow Taxi", and songs by Stan Rogers and k.d. lang.
The Backyard Betties will perform songs by lead singer Nancy Laberge, mainly whimsical reflections on love gone wrong. They will also premiere a choral arrangement of "I Won’t Wait ‘til It’s Too Late", a reflective song about the importance of reaching out to the people around us. The chorus will also provide backup vocals for the lively tune "No Rest for the Wicked".
After the show, join us for free refreshments - mix and mingle with new and old friends.
