Released: Tuesday November 18, 2008 (Edmonton AB) - Exposure

The 2008 Exposure: Edmonton's Queer Arts and Culture Festival, now in full swing, will come to dramatic conclusion on Saturday, November 22 with the presentation of the closing night party and fundraiser NOIR - a Masqueerade Gala.

Edmonton style, fierceness and talent will be de rigueur where beguiling queer tribes from all across the city will come together to strut their stuff in all their glamour and prairie pride at the Starlite Room. The evening will be a melange of music, art, entertainment, and cuisine. Partygoers are invited to explore their dark side at this otherwordly, unforgettable event. Denizens of NOIR will be treated to: a diversity of performers including the Sir Loins (formerly Albeta Beef), a new band -- The Boyfriends featuring Marshall Watson and, yes, his boyfriend, Capital City Burlesque, Oil City Derby Girls, and a few drag queens thrown in for good measure; tastebuds will be tantalized by Cafe Leva and Cowgirls and Skinny Legs; and dancing that will ensue from the moment the doors open at 8 p.m. with a multitude of unexpected and eclectic guest deejays.

Noir is generously supported by TD Canada Trust, Options Sexual Health Association, and Plumbheavy.

"Given the significance of diversity within our organization, we also want to serve as an example to others. When the opportunity was offered to us to become the presenting sponsor of the Exposure: Edmonton's Queer Arts and Culture festival, we saw an obvious alignment with our corporate objectives of reducing discrimination and fostering inclusiveness and greater acceptance for all," says Ron McInnis, Senior Vice President TD Canada Trust Prairie Region.

Exposure Chair, Heather Zwicker responds "We are very grateful to our sponsors TD Bank Financial Group, OPTIONS Sexual Health Association and Plumbheavy. Their contributions makes it possible for us to produce events like NOIR -- an example of programming that reaches a complete cross-section of the queer community and unites us in the spirit of celebration. Their support is also a huge vote of confidence in the viability of the Exposure Festival, not only this year but for years to come."

Tickets for NOIR are $20 and can be purchased at the merchandise table at any of this week's Exposure Festival events, in person at Fringe Theatre Adventures box office (Transalta Art Barns 10330-84 Avenue), online at www.tickets.fringetheatre.ca or at the door on the night of the event (providing any tickets are still available.) Proceeds from ticket sales will support the 2009 Exposure Festival.
