More than 100 booths feature vendors representing the full spectrum of health and fitness happening on May 13 and 14, 2017
YYCfit Health and Fitness Expo ("YYCfit") is excited to announce the launch of their inaugural event in Calgary on May 13 and 14 at the Stampede Grounds in the Big Four Building. Recognizing a large gap in the market around general health and fitness, President Erika Holter founded the show with the principal to deliver an event that is consumer focused and appeals to a broad interest set. The event is the first of its kind in Canada and will be expanding across the West in 2018 and 2019.
Holter drew on her conference planning background to create YYCfit. Expecting a draw of more than 5000, attendees will be able to explore more than 100 booths showcasing Calgary’s most popular boutique fitness studios, martial arts, fitness apparel, healthy eats, adventure travel and more.
"We were very strategic and quite selective in finding the right exhibitors to ensure there was no over saturation in one area," notes Holter. "Calgary has a passion for health and fitness and YYCfit will celebrate this in all its different forms. My hope is that people walk away with new ideas on how to stay healthy and active."
The weekend will also be host to a Strongman Competition run in conjunction with the Alberta Strongman Association. Two demo stages will feature a schedule of dynamic displays and competitions including aerial yoga, hip hop dancing, boxing, powerlifting, and even a sword demonstration. There is also a seminar stage, (which was implemented with a no-sales policy to ensure it truly added value for guests) that will be full of engaging and informative presentations and several panel discussions. Special guests for the weekend include personal trainer and model Daniel Maguire, from The Bachelorette and Bachelor In Paradise as well as Emily Abbott, Crossfit Competitor recognized as the eighth fittest woman in the world.
The event is family-friendly with a KIDfit Zone during the day which will include a couple super hero training camps to get young ones moving as they learn skills from today’s most popular super heroes. The gears switch in the evening with a beer garden and will showcase the more combative and less toddler-friendly demo stage activities while attendees kick back with a drink.
YYCfit has also partnered with the ATB BoostR program to showcase some of the up and coming companies in the health and fitness space.
General advance admission tickets are $7 for children and $10 for adults while full weekend and ATB BoostR tickets range in price. All can be purchased in advance online at or at the door. One dollar from each ticket sold on site will be donated to the YMCA’s Strong Kids Campaign.
