Local ambassadors and experts share stories, insight and expertise in fashion, motivation, travel and the outdoors
Sporting Life at Southcentre Mall is excited to announce the launch of its in-store speaking series "My Sporting Life, Our Canada" in celebration of Canada’s 150th birthday. Sporting Life is a Canadian retailer founded in Toronto in 1979 and still managed today by co-owners and co-founders Patti and David Russell, as well as many of the long-term original store employees.
With strong Canadian roots, the store aims to use the speaking series as a vehicle to teach and encourage guests to embrace the beauty and opportunities in Canada’s own backyard in addition to featuring and highlighting some of the top Canadian designers carried at the store.
"We really are a deeply proud Canadian company and we recognize the privilege and position we have as a national retailer to connect with people from all walks of life," comments Marketing Director Jean Paul Corbeil. "We’ve carefully crafted an inspiring range of speakers to appeal to numerous interest sets and our hope is that our guests will walk away with new ideas and a zest to try something different."
The speaking series will feature local ambassadors sharing their expertise on a variety of topics. Julie Redmond - fashion stylist and owner of style by jr kicks off the series on Saturday, April 8th with a workshop Styling 101. On May 6th, Andrew Obrecht, co-founder of popular spin studio YYC Cycle will be speaking about Motivation and inspiring attendees to take control of the reins in all areas of their life. Matt Mosteller, popular ski and adventure writer with Powder Matt continues the series on June 10th with Mountain Biking – Where to Go and What You Need to Know and finally, author and travel/outdoor expert Leigh McAdam of HikeBikeTravel shares stories and highlights from her trip across Canada with Discover Canada – Highlights and Stories from Travelling Coast to Coast.

Sporting Life is set to open a second Calgary store at Market Mall in Fall of 2017 as well as a new store in Yorkdale Mall in Toronto.
