Justine Stevens, writer and director of the award winning 8 episode series The Girls Guide, along with creative collaborator Kara Artym, has been furiously working to prepare for filming of Season Two which will take place in Calgary in August 2016. Eight episodes have been written, actors engaged, locations scouted and behind the scenes crew are ready.
The Girls Guide explores the friendships, relationships and love lives of 3 roommates. Season Two sees main character, Lucy (Christa Andersen) moving from Vancouver to Calgary to start her career as a graphic designer. The season will feature some new, exciting characters as well as seeing the return of some fan favourites like Lucy and Victoria (Briana Rayner.)
"The Girls Guide, Season One, struck a cord with an international audience for its lesbian themed content and we're pleased to be bringing back some of the same actors to continue the storylines established in Season One" says Stevens. "Season One was translated and dubbed in a few languages such as French and Italian by enthusiastic fans and we anticipate the same reaction this time around."
Film making is an expensive proposition and to make Season Two a reality, The Girls Guide is running a Kickstarter fund raising campaign until June 30, 2016. The goal is $30,000. You can back the Kickstarter here: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1499343305/the-girls-guide-web-series-season-two
The Girls Guide team has created a short video called "The Queer Character Survival Training Camp" as part of the Kickstarter campaign. It's a sarcastic take on the Bury Your Gays Trope and can be seen here
