Calgary Pride and the Trans Equality Society of Alberta (TESA) are partnering to host a free event for all members, allies, and supporters of the trans community for the Trans Day of Visibility on March 31, 2016. This is an opportunity to celebrate the community, its individuals and accomplishments, and increase visibility and awareness for the transgender and gender diverse communities.

We invite community members, allies and media to join us in the heart of Calgary at the Jack Singer Concert Hall Lobby, where we will be joined by distinguished guests and community members for a cocktail reception and presentation. Together, we will acknowledge the achievements of the past, celebrate the present through personal and relevant stories from trans individuals, and continue building an inclusive and equitable society for tomorrow.

The Trans Day of Visibility is an annual event that has been celebrated internationally since 2009, and by partnering to host this celebration, Calgary Pride and TESA’s goal is to solidify the day and its importance into the cultural psyche of the community.

This event marks the first official partnership between the organizations, and will serve as a launching point for future collaborations in the coming year and beyond to assist in continuing to curb and end discrimination against the trans community within the city and province.
