Travel Gay Canada announces partnership with Association of Canadian Travel Agencies

Travel Gay Canada (TGC), Canada’s national lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) tourism industry association and the Association of Canadian Travel Agencies (ACTA), announces a working partnership for the development of bringing the LGBT travel industry together with travel agents across Canada.

Jointly the two organizations with work together at educating members on the impact the LGBT travelling consumer can make on the travel industry, with an expenditure of $8.5 Billion dollars annual, 48% spend those dollars within Canada 23% to the US and 28% other (mostly Europe).

"By working together the organizations can help build travel agencies exposure to this very lucrative and influential market and introduce the message that travel agents can help consumers make qualified travel decisions when traveling to LGBT destinations." states Colin Sines President and Executive Director, Travel Gay Canada.

"We are excited to be partnering with TGC. Research suggests that LGBT couples take twice as many trips as mainstream couples and spends 50% more on those trips. Understanding and learning how to market to the LGBT market and recommend destinations hospitable to the LGBT couples community is important and a great way for ACTA members to grow business", commented Mary Jane Hiebert, Chair of ACTA.
