Details:
Edmonton Queer Professionals invites you to join us at the Garneau Theatre on May 17th, 2010 for International Day Against Homophobia and the Alberta Premier of the documentary film “Beyond Gay: The Politics of Pride.”

“Beyond Gay: The Politics of Pride” follows Vancouver Pride Society President, Ken Coolen, on a global mission to make Pride matter. Coolen travels to places where Pride is still steeped in protest, allowing him and viewers to personally experience the powerful oppression that continues to exist. The realities in Moscow, Warsaw and Colombo provide a stark contrast to the tolerance in Vancouver and Toronto where the celebration and festivities have overtaken political action.

Advance tickets for this one-time only event are now on sale at the Garneau Theatre (8712 – 109 Street) for $10. Space is limited, so please purchase your tickets in advance! All proceeds from this event will be donated in support of Camp fYrefly 2010.

This event will also feature a special proclamation from Mayor Stephen Mandel making International Day Against Homophobia official in Edmonton.

5:00-6:30: EQP Cocktail Reception and Mixer hosted by deVine Wines & Spirits. All drinks $5.

6:30-8:00: Documentary Film Screening

8:00-8:30: Special Talk Back with Film Producer, Morris Chapdelaine.

See you there…
