We’re planning to launch a new version of our website within the next week. Initially it will be the same content but wrapped up in a much nicer looking, easier to use design. Once we have this framework down, we can start to add the multitude of new features that we’ve been itching to implement. For instance, we plan to link businesses in our Business Directory to their corresponding articles and advertisements in our magazine, giving them an added bonus of online advertising. Also, we plan to flag the businesses that carry our magazine, so next time you’re looking to pick up the latest copy, you can easily find a location near you (remember, we’re in about 150 locations in Calgary).
The Annual General Meeting for Pride Calgary is coming up on Monday October 18th, from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at Metro Boyztown (check our map for the exact address). Pride Calgary is always looking to better themselves, so this is your chance to voice your opinion on what you liked this year, and give constructive criticism on the rest. Keep in mind, you must first purchase a Pride Calgary membership for a nominal fee. Memberships will be available at the event before the meeting starts, and allow you to cast a vote for the members of the next Pride Board. If you’re looking to take a more active role in helping the gay community in Calgary, you can also apply as a candidate for the next board. Remember, people like you make Pride Calgary possible!
GLCSA is hosting Impressions 2004 on October 15th and 16th. It’s the annual art show, sale, and auction to raise funds to run their organization. GLCSA runs several social and support groups, as well as offering a large library of literature and other resources for gays, lesbians, bisexuals, and trans-identified individuals. If you’re looking to fill that gap on your wall, come out and see what’s available – your money will be going toward a great cause, and you’re bound to find something you like.
