Cosmetics are nothing new, but a growing trend among both gay and straight men is allowing for greater acceptance of the use of facial cosmetics to achieve the ultimate look.
Jean Paul Gaultier has inspired a new line of beauty products for men called "Tout Beau Tout Propre". Available only in Europe for the past two years, the line is now available exclusively in Alberta at the Calgary Downtown Bay.
"This is the next step in men allowing themselves to enhance their appearance in ways other than basic grooming and highlights," says Fred Amen, general sales manager at the Downtown Bay. "There was a time when even a well manicured hand on a man drew suspicion, but both gay and straight men have discovered that proper nails, hair and now face care is as essential to ones image as the right clothes."
From his early childhood, Gaultier has retained a memory of perfect femininity; from his adolescence, the fidelity of friendship; from his apprenticeship with Pierre Cardin, the conviction that anything is possible; and from his many years of designing under his own name, an enthusiasm for transgressing conventional codes of design for contemporary men. For over 20 years, he has been demolishing traditional ideas in order to reconstruct and overturn the past.
Inspired by Gaultier’s famous fragrance "Le Male", the "Tout Beau Tout Propre" line for men consists of ten products which offer men unique choices for the ultimate appearance including:
· Le Male Kohl Eye Pen and Concealer to accent eyes and reduce imperfections
· Le Male Nourishing Lip Balm in 3 shades to add tone and colour
· Le Male Nourishing Liproll and Gloss
· Le Male Smoothing and Fortifying Nail Pen for perfect nails
· Le Male Bronzer with brush for a radiant summer glow all year
· Le Male Face and Body Soap
· Le Male Shower Gel
