Dear GayCalgary Magazine,
I would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the Calgary Community and a few special organizations and people that made our first Artists for the Quality of Life - Donnie Peters Memorial ‘Cut-a-Thon’ such a success. This event had not been held since Donnie’s death in 1999. With the help of our valued Committee - David, Linda, Kiwi, Sandy, Scott, Ashley, Shoya, Gary, Annette, Doug & Bianca we were able to put into motion the planing, organizing and actuality of making this event happen. This group all worked many long hours over the past few months and without their time we could not have even gotten started.
On behalf of this team I would like to say Thank you to all our participating Calgary salons and their talented hairstylists - Affinity, Alta Moda, Blush Beauty Bar, Bandbox, Chrome, The Ginger Group, Kosmetikos, Red Bloom, & IzoBizo without their dedication we could not have had such a day! We raised just over $2400 doing hair cuts alone!
To each of our volunteers - we appreciate your time and love to be there for the event from start to finish from the pre work needed, the day of the event, the wrap party, and the benefit show at Boyztown - we could not have done this without each of you - Thank you so much! A special Thanks to DJ Eric/Mystare for his DJ talent and helping raise additional funds by allowing his head to be shaved at the show - way to go!!
To our corporate sponsors - ABeeRowed Sound, AG Hair Products, Black Diamond Liquor, The Foxwood B&B, Foster Stock Family Lawyers, Frito Lay Canada, Gilbert Laustsen Jung Associates Ltd., Huston Marketing Group, Solar Cafe, Money Pennies, The Place for Men, River Cafe, Molly Malone’s Pub, Raining Cats & Dogs, Posh Paws Boutique, Merlot Bar & Restaurant, Priape, Outlooks, Red Rose Florist, The Yardhouse, Uptown 17 Brz, The Rekroom, The Verge, Victoria’s & especially Metro Boyztown for their generous support!! It’s great to see such community participation!
And last but certainly not least our Thanks also go to Steve & Rob at GayCalgary Magazine, you guys gave us a great write up and donated ad space for the event and then your logo was missed on our t-shirts. We are so very sorry that this was missed and we promise to make it up to you guys. Since you started this magazine you have done a great job focusing on all the ‘great’ things in our great city - for that we say thanks to all you do.
We hope to see all of you next year - we will update you if not before press time for the next issue our grand total raised for the Positive Living Lunch Program at AIDS Calgary.
With Love,
Devon Mills on behalf of the Artist for the Quality of Life
