Matinée North America brings the majesty of Matinee back to New York City this June with the city’s biggest outdoor pride party. MATINÉE NEW YORK PRIDE 2013 takes place Saturday, June 29th from 3:00pm – midnight at Governors Beach Club with music by Matinee All-Star DJ Lydia Sanz and a surprise DJ to be announced. Additionally, New York’s DJ Honey Dijon will spin back-to-back with Berlin’s DJ Tom Peters. A celebrity performer will also be announced soon. Tickets starting at $39.00 are available now at www.matineenyc.com.
"There is no better time to experience the magic of Matinée then during New York Pride when we bring the internationally loved festival to its own private island," says Jake Resnicow, Managing Partner of Matinée North America.
Matinée launched over fifteen years ago in Ibiza with the idea to elevate parties by crafting elaborate sets and theatrical productions. Since 2010, Resnicow and his partner Patrick Crough have brought the international party franchise to the states with incredible spectacles in major cities including Miami, New York, Orlando and Los Angeles. The party was named "Best Gay Circuit Party" by Odyssey Magazine and "Best Circuit Tour" by Justcircuit.com.
"We mix Broadway-show caliber production with fantasy nightlife elements," explains Resnicow of the party’s success. "We combine celebrity performers, spectacular Cirque acts, unparalleled sound and lighting, and beats from the world's hottest DJs. We strive to 'one-up' ourselves with every party. New York Pride is truly going to be bigger and better than ever before."
Governors Beach Club is New York City’s most versatile waterfront concert venue and event space, offering over 20,000 square feet of fun. It’s the perfect venue to dance the night away while gazing upon the beautiful NYC skyline.
This year’s celebration, with a portion of proceeds benefitting LifeBall and AIDS Life, will be the duo’s third time back to the island. They made their New York debut on the island in 2010 with over 4,000 revelers dancing while enjoying a surprise fireworks display that ignited the Manhattan skyline. For this summer’s event, they will partner with top NYC event producers NYC event producers Tommy Marinelli and Rob Fernandez/Benny Soto of Dance.Here.Now".
Last year’s Pride event mimicked Matinée’s world-renowned CircuitFestival Barcelona
waterpark party. It featured a four-story tented dance floor with state-of-the-art lights, sound and lasers, an open-air beach with water slides, music by DJ Taito Tikaro and Hector Fonseca and over thirty Matineé dancers. As the sun began to fade, the treble began to rise and pop songstress Natasha Bedingfield - all fashioned out - put on a beat-stomping performance of her hits "Unwritten" and "Pocketful of
Sunshine".
"I strive to give partiers the same experience I enjoyed when I first stepped into a Matinée party in Spain," says Crough. "It was like entering an adult carnival."
"It takes an army to put these elaborate events together," continues Resnicow. Lighting technicians, sound engineers, a props crew, and others work behind the scenes
to make the magic of Matinee come to life. "Pioneering an epic new party experience is a tremendous amount of work but well worth it. We are so excited to present our favorite city with the biggest outdoor party of pride summer."
