Common Crown Brewing Co. has traditionally been known for their core beers like the Brewmaster Blonde Ale, Journeyman IPA, Coppersmith Brown Ale, Ploughman Wheat Ale and their innovative seasonals. This month they’re launching their first ever ready-to-drink cocktail, a bright and bubbly hard vodka seltzer, the vodka is provided by Burwood Distillery. The drink dubbed Pride Alive , is in support of Calgary Pride with a portion of the proceeds being donated. The label was designed by Zack Aboulazm (he/they) who is a Calgary/Mohkinstis based mixed-race queer designer and illustrator. They’ve worked for over six years creating colourful designs for some of North America’s brightest cultural, queer and NGO organizations. Pride Alive will be available on www.commoncrown.ca at various liquor stores and restaurants/pubs throughout Calgary starting on August 28.

The ready-to-drink cocktail features delectable berries and local vodka, bringing forward proud Alberta flavours. Enjoy Saskatoon tones with a highlight of raspberry and strawberry. It’s a bubbly drink for any occasion, best enjoyed with whoever you love.

" I depicted a variety of queers, in all their forms and identities. Rather than assigning identities to each individual, I decided to mix and match signifiers of gender and sexuality to create characters that anyone could identify with instead of specific characters, " says Zack Aboulazm. " Throughout the illustration, there are Easter eggs hidden that represent LGBTQ2S+ culture. "
