"OUTtv gives $10,000 to four aspiring filmmakers to make short films"
After a very successful first round of competition, OUTtv announced the second round of Hot Pink Shorts: The Making Of contest for its sister site, http://www.hotpinkshorts.com, today. Hot Pink Shorts was created by OUTtv and funded by Bell Broadcast and New Media Fund, also known as the Bell Fund, in 2010. The goal of Hot Pink Shorts is to become the hub for producers all over the world to explore and exchange a wide variety of themes and subject matter for short films related to the GLBT community.
The Hot Pink Shorts: The Making Of Contest encourages the creation of excellent Canadian digital media by funding the creation of short films. The first round of the contest was launched in February 2010. Video pitches were submitted via phones or webcams and posted on http://www.hotpinkshorts.com for viewers to vote for their favorite story. Two were selected and subsequently funded and made into short films.
The second round of the contest begins today. OUTtv and Hot Pink Shorts are looking for 4 TRUE STORIES to make into 4 short films. The story can be about anything that has happened to the contestants. All aspiring filmmakers, with all levels of experience, are invited to submit a short video pitch via their phone or webcam and upload it to http://www.hotpinkshorts.com.
"Your true story can be about anything! Just make sure it is original and would make a fantastic short film. If we like it, we'll help you make it into a movie," exclaimed Nicky Forsman, OUTtv’s Head of Development.
As one of the four winners, OUTtv and Hot Pink Shorts will fully finance each film up to $2500. Moreover, the winners will be mentored by industry professionals who will guide them through the entire filmmaking process. The mentors will help them with everything that comes after their pitch, all the way through to post-production. This process, as well as their new short films, will then be featured on an episode of Hot Pink Shorts airing on OUTtv in the Fall.
