Homemade Rice Crispy Treat Recipe
Ingredients
3 T Butter
10 oz. Miniature Marshmallows
6 ½ Cups Crispy Rice Cereal
Instructions
Melt the butter in a large saucepan over low heat.
Mix marshmallows into the pan until they are fully melted and combined with the butter.
Remove from the heat and add in cereal until combined with marshmallows.
Transfer mixture into a 9"x13" pan. No greasing necessary.
Allow to cool and enjoy!
Beyond Surface Level
The original pebble pattern, embossed in the pan, serves several functions:
1. It allows air to flow around baked goods to improve browning as the cook.
2. It enhances non-stick capabilities by holding on to shortening that may otherwise be wiped off. Also, since the pattern is embossed into the surface, there is no worry of a peeling non-stick coating.
3. Feel free to use a knife or metal spatula - these pans are tough!
