shomi is the only place Canadians can see this Golden Globe and Emmy Award-winning Amazon Studios original series
Risk-taking, change-making, and – at times – heartbreaking, Transparent explores the messy and marvelous dynamics of family, identity, sex, and love. Returning exclusively to shomi™ on December 12 for a highly-anticipated 10-episode second season, Amazon Studios’ Transparent stars Golden Globe and Emmy Award-winner Jeffrey Tambor (Arrested Development) as Maura, a 70-year-old transgendered woman early in her transition. As she reintroduces herself to her family, everyone else’s secrets finally start to come out. This includes her ex-wife Shelly (Judith Light, The Exes), and their adult children: meandering Ali (Gaby Hoffmann Girls), record producer Josh (Jay Duplass, Togetherness), and sexually conflicted Sarah (Amy Landecker, Louie). Each family member spins off in a different direction as they figure out who they are – and who they aren’t. Transparent is written and directed by multi-award-winner Jill Soloway.
The entire Pfefferman family returns for the second season of Transparent as they continue on their journey of exploration and revelation. Season 2 begins with a big, white wedding for Sarah and Tammy – but is it happily ever after? Post nuptials, Sarah gets in touch with her deeper desires, which isn’t always comfortable. Now out of the closet, Maura discovers the hardest part of her transition is still ahead, and faces some tough personal decisions about her future. Josh and Rabbi Raquel navigate their new relationship, and the complexity of being an instant family for Josh’s recently returned son, Colton. Ali zeroes in on her future, captivated by a new connection with Syd and a prolific feminist mentor. Academy Award-winning actress Anjelica Huston (Medium) and Emmy Award-winner Cherry Jones (24) are among the guest stars joining this season.
The second season of Transparent is executive produced by Jill Soloway (Six Feet Under) and Andrea Sperling (Like Crazy). Season 1 of Transparent is streaming on shomi now, and to the delight of fans everywhere, the series has been renewed for a third season that will stream in 2016.
