Alberta Ballet is delighted to present its acclaimed rendition of The Nutcracker, choreographed by Edmund Stripe and designed by Emmy award winner Zack Brown. Featuring the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra and the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Alberta Ballet’s Musical Director Peter Dala, performances are at Edmonton’s Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium December 10-13 and at Calgary’s Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium December 17-24.

Set to Tchaikovsky’s treasured score, this spectacular multimillion-dollar production delights with glittering sets, lavish costumes, and enchanting dance. For each performance, nearly 80 students complement the company’s 31 dancers on stage. While on tour, the children are selected from the community in which they perform. Complimentary pre-show Sugar Plum Parties will include annual favourites Klara’s Closet, TD’s Storybook Corner, and craft stations that will get audience members of all ages in the holiday spirit.

Alberta Ballet is proud to have the emerging artists of Alberta Ballet II joining the company on stage for all performances, as well as two of North America’s most celebrated prima ballerinas Xiomara Reyes, (formerly of American Ballet Theatre) and Christiana Bennett, (formerly of Ballet West) who will be making their first appearances on Alberta stages as the Sugar Plum Fairy.
