The Global Visions Festival Society is thrilled to announce the launch of Rainbow Visions, their all-new, 4-day festival focused on LGBTQ-themed films and issues. Hard as it may be to believe, Edmonton was the only major city in Canada without an LGBTQ film festival. The GVFS board of directors has been working on putting the pieces in place for this for a long time now, and this new festival is the culmination of 2 years of preparation.
Films screening at the festival include acclaimed festival favourites such as NAZ & MAALIK, THE AMINA PROFILE, BOY MEETS GIRL, LIZ IN SEPTEMBER, PETER DE ROME: THE GRANDFATHER OF GP and THE YEAR WE THOUGHT ABOUT LOVE, as well as hot new indies such as YOU'RE KILLING ME, CLAMBAKE, and THE GLAMOUR AND THE SQUALOR.
Rainbow Visions will also present a raucous & raunchy Saturday night of programming, with the highly-anticipated Edmonton premiere of this year's Sundance sensation, TANGERINE, and a very special screening of the 2008 Sundance smash, OTTO; OR, UP WITH DEAD PEOPLE - with iconic Canadian director Bruce LaBruce in attendance for the screening and after-party.
And don't miss the archival screening of Claude Jutra's 1963 classic, A TOUT PRENDRE, presented as a free screening, in conjunction with the Queer Media Database Canada/Quebec. Author and founder of the Queer Media Database, Thomas Waugh, will be in attendance for a post-screening panel discussion.
Individual advance tickets and weekend passes are now on sale online through www.Ticketfly.com, or visit RainbowVisions.ca for ticket/purchase links and full schedule information.
The inaugural edition of RAINBOW VISIONS will take place from October 15-18, at Metro Cinema.
