On May 17, Egale Canada will be releasing a new website dedicated to assembling news, resources and enabling more effective networking on trans issues. The site will also be the first step in the development of a national trans advocacy network within trans communities and among activists across the country. This work will assist in better promoting understanding and advocacy.
The website will feature news and updates related to trans issues and events in Canada and around the world in all different levels of community and political life. Mickey Wilson, chair of Egale's Trans Committee says, "we expect that the site will be an educational and resource tool as well as a provocateur, encouraging discussion on emerging issues and identifications such as third sex, pan-gendered, androgynous, and intersex".
Lists of organizations and resources will be available on provincial and regional levels, with reports on what different levels of government are doing in regards to trans inclusion with their legal and policy initiatives to be added in the near future.
The site will also be used to initiate, assist and promote programs and studies specifically related to the challenges that trans-identified persons face in their daily lives, such as the Trans Men's Pap Campaign launched by the Sherbourne Health Centre, Ontario.
