I am a proud "girly drink drunk". I will drink beer if that is my only choice or needed to as part of a food review. With St. Patrick’s Day around to the corner, the image of drinking beer with green food colouring has never been appealing to me. This year, Corby Spirit and Wine, wanted GayCalgary to try something different for St. Patrick’s Day. They sent a bottle of their McGuinness Melon Liqueur along with Jacob’s Creek® Sparkling Chardonnay Pinot Noir to make their Sparkling Shamrock cocktail.
If you enjoy the smell of melons, you will love McGuinness Melon Liqueur. Just opening the bottle, the smell of the liqueur brings images of summer ripe melons. It has a bright green colour which is perfect for St. Patrick Day cocktails. McGuinness Melon Liqueur is also made in Canada. The Sparkling Shamrock Cocktail is an easy drink to make. It has a nice crisp refreshing taste too. You can enjoy it on St. Patrick’s Day, but I think once you have a glass of it, you will want to have it throughout the year. It is perfect for patio parties, wine and cheese functions, pairing it with other fruit and more.
