ARGRA (Alberta Rockies Gay Rodeo Association) board of directors have cancelled the upcoming CRIR 2016 which was to happen on June 30th to July 3rd, 2016 in Strathmore Alberta.  This year they would have celebrated their 25th Anniversary. Even though that ARGRA is a not-for-profit society that is 100% volunteer driven, that with years of steady growth, they had become the largest gay rodeo association in the world.

This is the message they have posted on Facebook and on their websites.

"A message from the Canadian Rockies International Rodeo and Music Festival

We have made the extremely difficult decision not to proceed with the 2016 festival, due to take place June 30 - July 3, 2016. This decision was not made lightly and we sincerely apologize to all the people this decision affects: the fans, artists, competitors, industry partners, vendors, corporate partners, suppliers and all of our supporters within the community. The ARGRA Board of Directors"

On top of the rodeo it self, they had planned musical line up of including Drew Gregory, Terri Clark, Charlie Major, Delhi 2 Dublin, April Wine, Trooper, Kim Mitchell, and Dean Brody. Also this year they were going to have a midway with amusement rides for adults to ride.

All questions in regards to the cancellation is being directed to info@argra.org. If you have reservations for hotels, you should contact them right away. So far, some are allowing full refunds even though bookings might have been done as non-refundable.

GayCalgary was a sponsor and media partner of the event. We are working on getting more details as they come in.(GC)
