Justine was kicked out by her parents when she was 18 years old because of her sexuality.  She says she was lucky to hit the ground running as she was taken in by a group of people that she says were amazing to her, and kept her out of trouble.  They got her hooked on volunteering, and also encouraged her to speak out and be vocal about her opinions, perspectives, values, and what she believes in.

Today, Justine is 21, and has lived in her own place in Inglewood for over a year now.  She earns her living at Community Natural Foods, and just started school in September.  She has been dating her girlfriend for nearly a year.

Justine is very involved in Calgary’s LGBT community.  She is currently co-chair for the Miscellaneous Youth Network, facilitator for Mosaic Youth Group, and handles communications for the Fake Mustache drag king troupe.  On top of all that, you can catch her at Fake Mustache shows performing under the Drag name Sid E. Slicker.
