Pride has nothing on Ke$ha.

Just days after glitter decorated the streets of Calgary during it's Pride festivities, Ke$ha brought her own glitter, glam, and sex to the Saddledome on September 6th with the Get Sleazy Tour. The people behind the inevitable anonymous online comments about the Pride Parade displaying "perversion" and "sexuality" would have been rendered speechless after seeing what Ke$ha offered.

The audience, comprised mostly of pre-teen and teenage girls, young gay men, parents and some people in their mid-20's took a bit to warm up as the show opened with Ke$ha outlined in a glowing diamond wearing a headlamp for Sleazy. As soon as Take it off hit they began dancing in the stands and the floor and singing along - the concert became a big party.

The show wouldn't be classified as "kid friendly." Lyrics like "the beat so phat gonna make me cum" and "don't be a little bitch with your chit chat just show me where your dick is at" likely stunned the parents in attendance. As if driving home the point of the Get Sleazy Tour she brought a 24 year old guy named Darren on stage and taped him to a chair. For the song Grow A Pear a giant pear danced around on stage... and then so did a giant penis, which proceeded to slam its balls in Darren's face repeatedly.

"Sorry about the balls in your face," she told him before having him taken offstage by Santa Claus.

"It's ok, I liked it," he replied.

The set ended with a fist-pumping Tik-Tok and the anthematic We R Who We R. Ke$ha closed the night saying that she hoped the song inspired the audience to be themselves. "Now go get laid..."

Don't listen kids. Don't listen...

Ke$ha is the finale in a summer gauntlet of concerts that also brought Rihanna, who Ke$ha opened for in 2010, and Katy Perry play this same venue. In comparison Ke$ha looked like the kid sister who was trying too hard to be cool. A fairly basic industrial catwalk set with no screens (have I mentioned how much of a pet peeve that is?), clocking in at just over an hour, and full of gimmicks like glitter cannons and balloon drops.  It paled in comparison to other shows this year, which is a shame because Ke$ha does have a lot of talent and potential, and unlike many others she sang live.  She just needs to grow a little more before she will really rock an arena show.

Picking LMFAO - record mogul Barry Gordy's son Redfoo (Stefan Kendal Gordy) and Grandson SkyBlu (Skyler Gordy) - to open the show proved to be the right choice, as many seemed just as much there to see them as the headliner. A mix of electronic and hip-hop the Uncle-Nephew duo performed songs about ho's, partying, doing shots, partying, drinking champagne, partying, and of course, partying. The stands were literally shaking as people danced around, going especially crazy for their biggest hit Party Rock Anthem.(GC)
