Another Gay Movie
Like it’s spoofy cousins, “Not Another Teen Movie”, and “Not Another Date Movie”, this film pokes fun at the gay genre. Going so far as to mimic the amateur filming and editing style from independently produced gay films, I found a few uproarious moments amongst the barrage of mind-numbing silliness.
The core plot parodies American Pie, but substitutes 4 horny GAY male virgins who make a pact to get laid before they graduate from High School. The main character Andy (Michael Carbonaro) experiences the gay slant of the masturbation / parental intrusion scene except far, far worse. When his mother pulls back the covers, not only does it reveal the boy touching himself, but also a large array of dildos, condom-covered vegetables, and other phallic household items ramping up to alarming sizes. Andy’s excessively understanding dad, played by Scott Thompson, is quick to help his son out of this situation but later on gets him stuck in the middle of some even weirder ones. Meanwhile Andy’s crush on his high school teacher Mr. Puckov (played by the hilarious Graham Norton) leads him into unfamiliar territory of kink, dungeons, harnesses, safety words and glass tables; though he makes certain to dress appropriately in his swimming costume in anticipation of the “water sports”.
Meanwhile his friend Nico (Jonah Blechman) plays the flaming film fan with feathered hair, whose goal to get laid leads him down the road to finding a daddy. He thinks he has his mother in the dark about his sexuality, as he fakes a relationship with a chipper cheerleader who can’t see a thing through her cataracts. He manages to lure millionaire bear Richard Hatch (winner of the first Survivor) home with him, but botches the opportunity; his generous dosage on his first-time douche leaves him spluttering and convulsing on the toilet while Hatch gets impatient and leaves – YAY, and we see full frontal too!
The jock, Jarod (Jonathan Chase), pursues self improvement when he finds Andy’s dad’s penis pump under the bathroom sink – however a short circuit causes a disaster that leaves his manhood spread a little thin. The nerd, Griff (Mitch Morris), is more concerned with enhancing the junk in his trunk. When exercise classes don’t work he opts for prosthetics, but makes a giant ass of himself at a strip club when he springs a leak.
So if you’re into the slap-stick, over the top comedies, then expect your face to hurt after you’re done watching – from laughing, that is. For those with slightly more serious taste, perhaps a documentary is in order…
eXposed: The Making of a Legend
Well this is a change for me – going from reviewing pornos to reviewing documentaries about the making of pornos! However, it is more than just a glorified behind-the-scenes feature as you would see on a movie DVD. This 1½ hour documentary proves that friendship and camaraderie can spring up in the strangest of places.
The film they are making is Colt Studio’s “Buckle Roos” – hailed as a masterpiece in some circles, and highly decorated at the GayVN awards. The four hour porno revolves around a belt buckle that gives the wearer the power to have anyone he wants, but arrives in the laps of a troubled gay cowboy couple.
Have you ever wondered what the porn stars are like when the camera is off and they are no longer in character? The sexy Zak Spears plays a non-sexual role in the film, but comments on how he wishes he could participate. An extrovert and exhibitionist in real life, Spears’ charisma is off the chart. His fellow actors and crew get pretty attached to him, leading up to some tearful goodbyes when filming is complete.
Though we don’t get to see too much sex (naturally they kept all the good stuff for the main movie), we do get to see them talking and joking around, naked, between scenes and during photo shoots. Those actors participating in the documentary are interviewed on a number of topics, from their life story to their sexuality and penis size. Some answers are pretty surprising. For instance, Diego De La Hoya used to be a priest before he chose the life of a porn star.
Aside from the eye candy and the interesting glimpse at human sexuality in acting, this film also reveals some of the process and protocols in the porn industry. Do porn stars have sex with one another outside of the studio? Does the crew ever get jiggy with the actors they work with, or get turned on while filming?
As for me, I was quite taken by the cute bear cub that was best boy on the production crew, especially when he had to show off his chest fur to help one of the porn stars get off. Typical of me to like the one hottie I can’t see naked!
