Dear Nina,

What is the big deal with making New Years resolutions. I mean, like, in a week they’ve already been broken. So what’s the point? Do you do this, and if so, why?

- New?

Dear New Years bummer!!!

New Years is a time to reflect on the successes and failures from the past year. It is also a time to focus on the coming year.  A time to redirect our energy and make the changes needed to improve yourself in the coming year. After all, there is always room for improvement in all of us don’t you think? To me you sound quite miserable and could use some holiday cheer!  (Either that or you really need to get laid!!)  Whichever you choose, please do us all a favor and start the New Year with a smile, it is the least you can  do for those of  us who to choose to have fun and enjoy our holidays. It’s people like you who can really take the fun out of this, the most festive time of year

And yes this is the time of year I too look back and re-evaluate where I am. I also use this time of year to clear up misunderstandings, to forgive and move on.   It has been one hell of a year for this Queen. I leave 2004 with so much more insight into our community and the people it’s made up of.  I look forward to getting to know you all a lot better in 2005!

I can’t tell what my resolution will be but I can tell you this: I will be making one!  And if I choose to stick to it – well that’s up to me. I can always try again. But if you don’t at least try you’ll never know now will you?

Sincerely Nina
