For over 30 years Nick Carter has been entertaining fans. Whether with the Backstreet Boys or solo, his concerts always promise a good time. After wrapping up the successful BSB DNA tour, Carter continued to travel around the world with his Who I Am tour, which arrived at The Palace Theatre October 12th.

Knowing how to please a crowd, Carter started off the show with the BSB song Larger Than Life. What followed was 90 minutes that mixed Backstreet songs, solo material, and covers of 1980s songs that influenced him since his birth in January of 1980. This was kicked off with the second song, Tears for Fear’s Everybody Wants To Rule The World followed by Canadian content with Corey Harts Sunglasses at Night. Carter showed his versatility away from the boy band style later in the show with an epic cover of Wanted Dead or Alive.

It is bizarre how a singer can fill arenas with bands, but solo projects often are toured to smaller venues. Carter’s fans are very loyal, and greeted songs from his three solo albums like 19 in 99 and Help Me with the same enthusiasm as BSB tracks like Shape Of My Heart and As Long As You Love Me. The show didn’t feature choreography, but Carter’s charisma is still captivating to experience whether he’s playing guitar or bounding across the stage.

Despite all the success, Carter has always remained humble and appreciates the fans that support his endeavors. He performed with the same energy and enthusiasm that he has at arena concerts. Getting to see him in a more intimate show was a treat.

Wrapping up with two of his biggest hits, I Want It That Way and Backstreets Back, Nick left the audience satisfied until the next Backstreet Boys tour.
