Released: Saturday July 28, 2018 (Airdrie, Alberta) - Eat North
Eat North and Calgary's Hotel Arts present Sashay, Fillet!

Next month, Eat North will present Sashay, Fillet! - a fun drag-meets-food event organized in support of Calgary Pride. The event will be held on Thursday, August 30, 2018, at Calgary’s Hotel Arts’ poolside and ballroom.

Sashay, Fillet! will see the worlds of culinary and drag collide during Calgary Pride's only celebratory food event. Five local chefs from top restaurants like Pigeonhole, Two Penny Chinese, Foreign Concept, Hotel Arts Group and Alloy will be paired up with local drag talents The Marvelous Mo B. Dick, Perla Coddington, Grease Jones, Duke Carson and Abeiya Miraj and put through a series of fun and interactive challenges onstage throughout the evening.

The event will kick off at 7 p.m., and guests will be greeted with a welcome cocktail and various canape stations around the Hotel Arts ballroom, offering plenty of delicious things to eat while watching the culinary and drag action unfold around the room.

Helping the worlds of food and drag merge are two very recognizable faces: Top Chef Canada judge Mijune Pak and Yuhua Hamasaki of RuPaul's Drag Race season 10 who will co-host the evening, as well as judge the drag versus chef duos on their challenges. Assisting them with these tasks will be the Alberta drag icon Terri Stevens, Christy Farrell and Fraser Tuff of the 101.5 Kool FM morning show and pastry chef Heather Mordue of Toronto’s Adelaide Hotel.

"I am super, duper excited to be coming to Canada to perform for the first time ever," says Hamasaki. "So, let me ask you: Do you like food? Do you like drag? Do you like food and drag? Well, then let's combine those two for Calgary Pride and come Sashay, Fillet! with me everybody!"

After the success and excitement over its inaugural Drags Benny event just last month, Eat North helped to raise nearly $5,000 for Calgary Pride. It is hoping to do the same this time around with Sashay, Fillet!

"We have tremendous gratitude and respect for the hard work of the Eat North team in producing such an incredible event in support of Calgary Pride," says the Executive Director of Calgary Pride, Parker Chapple. "It is in partnerships such as this, where our cities become further enriched, and strength in our communities are forged."

VIP ticket holders will get to experience an intimate cocktail hour before the main event with Mijune Pak and Yuhua Hamasaki, as well as Lit Cosmetics glitter makeup booth to get extra glam for the evening and a few other exciting perks!
