Bowling for Beswick
Coming up shortly is Bowling for Beswick on August 9th. This is not bowling with an alley and pins, but an outdoor lawn bowling event that everyone can enjoy – “no skills required!” Bring your friends down to the Inglewood Lawn Bowling Club (1235 8th Avenue SE) and register as a team for just $25. Check-in starts at 12-noon and games begin at 1pm, but there are plenty of things happening on the side: enjoy refreshments (yes, liquor included), food from the barbecue, participate in the 50/50 draw, and more.
To register, call Mark at (403) 669-9936 (leave a message) or e-mail at email@example.com (please put “Bowling” in the subject line).
2nd Annual Chili Cook-off
On August 31st, the Calgary Eagle is hosting the 2nd Annual Chili Cook-off benefitting the SHARP Foundation, on behalf of Beswick House. This is a great opportunity to test your culinary prowess against your peers, in preparing this humble but popular dish. There will also be a silent auction running during the event, which includes a rare NHL Hockey Jersey signed by Sydney Crosby.
Last year, contestants put forward their best chili recipes, which were rated anonymously by Beswick representatives. After judging, the public was allowed to buy samples or full bowls of each entry and try their best to guess who might win. So even if you’re not the best in the kitchen, you can at least stop by this event and make a meal out of sampling what the competitors have to offer.
For a copy of the rules, or to register as a competitor, please pick up an Entry Form at The Calgary Eagle (424a 8th Avenue SE) or contact Johnathan (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Neal (email@example.com) for more information.
Karaoke in your PJs
The Texas Lounge will be host to a new breed of Karaoke fundraiser this August 26th; the ISCCA is holding a special fundraiser for the Children’s Wish Foundation. Dress up in your pajamas or “tightie-nighties” and show up after 7:30pm to sing your heart out!
