Anthea Black is a queer artist, art writer and cultural worker based in Alberta. Her projects in textiles, video and printmaking have been exhibited throughout Canada, and she publishes regularly on visual art, performance, queer film and video, political crafting practices and BDSM. In 2007, she launched looking for love in all the wrong places, a series of posters commissioned by queer artists for public spaces in Alberta. The project has since included collaborations with Daryl Vocat (Toronto), Karen Campos (Edmonton), Megan Morman and Cindy Baker (Saskatoon), Carol Maxwell (Texas) and Shawna Dempsey and Lorri Millan (Winnipeg). Anthea recently exhibited as part of Gestures of Resistance in Dallas Texas, GENDER ALARM! Nouveaux féminismes en art actuel at La Centrale in Montreal, and is the artist in residence at SNAP until January 2009.
