Munroe Bergdorf’s What Makes A Woman, documentary Transmilitary and drama series Butterfly will also be joining the line-up of trans focused content coming to OUTtv

Krow’s TRANSformation, a documentary that follows Canadian trans supermodel Krow, will air on OUTtv, Canada’s only LGBTQ+ television network on November 20th, Transgender Day of Remembrance.

Krow’s TRANSformation documents the three-year journey of Krow as he transitions from a successful ‘female’ model to his true authentic self. The documentary follows Krow from his very first hormone treatment through to his first modelling debut at Paris Fashion week, walking as a male model for Louis Vuitton. Krow has gone on to walk for the likes of Balmain and Alexander McQueen and was the first transgender model to grace the cover of L’Uomo Vogue.

The documentary – directed and produced by Canadian filmmaker Gina Hole Lazarowich – has garnered a great deal of attention on the film festival circuit this year, opening for London’s Raindance festival and also screening at Cinema Diverse the LGBTQ Palm Springs Film Festival where it took home the audience favourite award. It also screened at Evolution Mallorca International Film Festival in Spain and won Best Documentary Feature. Additionally, the film caught the attention of the B.C government and was discussed in the legislative assembly.

"Sometimes trans children don’t come out to their parents because they would rather have them love them for who they are not than risk having their family disowning them for who they are," said Krow, the subject of the documentary. "I want to share my story in the hope it will help educate people and create understanding and acceptance."

As part of Transgender Awareness Week (11th November – 17th November) OUTtv will be dedicating their scheduled programming to content that celebrates the transgender community and educates on trans history. Included in the programming schedule is Munroe Bergdorf’s eye-opening documentary about gender dysmorphia ‘What Makes a Woman,’ the three-part TV drama, ‘Butterfly,’ about a young transgender child and her families disagreement on how to approach their child's gender identification and the critically acclaimed documentary, ‘Transmilitary,’ which highlights the lives of four soldiers fighting for their country while fighting for their rights.

"We pride ourselves on providing our audience with a wide, diverse selection of programming that tells stories that resonate with them," said Brad Danks, CEO of OUTtv. "We are excited to share with our audience an array of new programming during Trans Awareness Week that tells the important stories of the trans community that educates, inspires hope and increases visibility."

Transgender Awareness Week takes place from Monday 11th November to Sunday 17th November and is shortly followed by Transgender Day of Remembrance on November 20th.
