Carol Cattell Classic

Outdoor Golf Weekend for Women

Community Event by Laurelie Nattress (From GayCalgary® Magazine, June 2010, page 52)
Don’t miss the social event of the summer!  Last year, over 100 women enjoyed a weekend of food, fun, frivolity, and yes, even a little golf!
Womonspace Edmonton is pleased to host the 11th Annual Carol Cattell Classic Golf Tournament and Campout from July 16th to 18th.  The tournament is named in honour of Carol Cattell, a long-time member of Womonspace who lost a brave battle with cancer in 2005.
The get together will be held at the Country 9 Golf Club and Campground, located just north of Bashaw (near Camrose).
The format for the tournament will be a Texas Scramble (shotgun start) and is divided into two groups.  The morning involves more serious golfers while the afternoon is for less experienced players, or for those interested in trying the game.  The tournament is intended to be fun for all.
The entry fee includes 9 holes of golf with power cart, lunch, barbecue supper, prize draws for all golfers, and camping Thursday through Sunday.  This weekend is very unique:  a women’s only campout and golf tournament.
For those not wishing to camp, there are several options available for accommodation in the area, e.g. motel, hotel, and bed & breakfasts.  All of these are near the Country 9 so that people not camping can still participate in the fun at the site (games, campfire singalongs, visiting, etc.).  Some people have commuted from Edmonton which is about 90 minutes, depending on your initial location (and driving speed).
For those who enjoy golfing, camping, and being with a great group of like-minded women, this is the event for you!  Registration is limited and this event fills quickly.  Tell all your friends and get your entries in early so you don’t miss any of the fun.
Visit the Womonspace website for entry forms and more information.
